from: Legal Credit Repair Techniques Take Time

There are really only three credit repair techniques you can use to repair your credit, and none of them are going to happen overnight. Negative items appearing on your credit report are going to stay there for the duration, usually seven years or until the statute of limitations expires and unless you can prove it is not valid, it will not be removed.

The first thing you can do is request a copy of your credit report and go through it with a fine tooth comb. Look for reports of loans you may have been late on but have been paid off. Look for erroneous reports of loans you may not have had but somehow ended up on your report. When you find anything negative that should not be there, send a request, in writing, for the credit bureau to remove it.

You will need to offer some proof of a loan being paid off as well as proof that a loan in your name was not initiated by you, but this is just the beginning of the credit repair techniques you have at your disposal.

Concentrate On Building Good Credit

Once all of the negative items on your report has been addressed, it is important you concentrate on paying your obligations on time. One of the best credit repair techniques you have is not being late with any payments, and that does not only apply to credit cards. Being late on utility payments are also reported to the credit agencies. By keeping them up to date your credit repair techniques will be advanced, although positives are not usually reported as quickly as the negatives.

The biggest aspect of your credit repair techniques is time. Believe it or not your credit did not earn a low score overnight and it will take more than a few days to raise the score. If several negatives can be removed quickly, then you have a chance of improving your score, but even this can take upwards of 30 days or longer and if you apply for multiple credit sources at one time, it can also affect your credit score.

Patience is probably the best of the credit repair techniques you can use to fix your credit score. Paying bills on time, along with utilities and other obligations, by monitoring your report for anything out of the ordinary and making sure paid off items are listed in a timely manner will help put your credit back on track.
